How we work
-
Describe the business and transaction
Start with client registration and tell us what you sell or buy, which countries and parties are involved, and any reporting deadline. Registration is not an order.
-
Review the records and flows
We agree the scope and review relevant contracts, invoices, accounting records and the movement of goods or provision of services. The actual transaction matters, not just the wording on the invoice.
-
Assess the Swedish VAT position
We analyse the Swedish registration, invoicing, deduction and reporting questions that fall within the assignment. Where another country is involved, we identify any need for local advice.
-
Put the next steps into practice
We explain the assessment in English and can assist with registrations, returns, corrections or information requested by the Swedish Tax Agency, according to the agreed scope.
Your VAT questions, explained
Frequently asked questions about Swedish VAT
Can you help a non-Swedish business with Swedish VAT?
Yes. We help businesses trading with or operating in Sweden assess Swedish VAT obligations. Tell us where the business is established, what is sold or purchased, who the customers are and how goods or services are supplied.
Does VAT registration in my home country cover Sweden?
Not automatically. We need to assess the transactions and the applicable Swedish rules. Depending on the circumstances, Swedish registration, reverse charge, a special reporting scheme or a refund procedure may be relevant.
Must I charge Swedish VAT on every sale to Sweden?
No single rule covers every sale. The treatment depends on factors such as whether you sell goods or services, where the supply takes place, the customer’s status and any relevant exception. We review the transaction before advising on the invoice.
Can you help with trade within and outside the EU?
Yes. We assess Swedish VAT questions relating to EU purchases and sales, imports, exports and cross-border services. We can also help identify reporting obligations and coordinate local advice when more than one country is involved.
Can I deduct the VAT on my purchases?
The right to deduct depends on the purchase, its connection to taxable business activities and the supporting records. Restrictions and mixed taxable and exempt activities may require a more detailed assessment.
Can a foreign business recover Swedish VAT?
A refund may be possible, but the route and conditions depend on where the business is established and its activities and registration position in Sweden. We assess whether a Swedish return or a separate refund procedure is appropriate.
Do you assist with VAT returns and corrections?
Yes. We can help with the Swedish VAT return, review the figures against the records and assess how an error should be corrected. Tell us which period is involved and whether the Swedish Tax Agency has already raised the issue.
What information should be included on an invoice?
The requirements depend on the sale, the parties and the VAT treatment. Cross-border transactions and reverse charge can require particular information or references. We can review your invoice routines or a specific transaction.
Can you help with property or partly exempt activities?
Yes. Property transactions, business premises, construction and activities with both taxable and exempt sales can raise specific VAT questions. We review the relevant use, contracts and costs rather than assuming that one treatment applies to the whole business.
What do you need to assess my VAT question?
Describe the business, the goods or services, the parties and countries involved, the delivery or service flow and any deadline. Contracts and example invoices help us define the assignment, the records needed and the proposed fee basis.
